Heat Will Kill 150,000 People

The National Resources Defense Council say Louisville Kentucky will lead the nation in heat related deaths by the end of the century. Exactly 19,988 will be killed. Let's check the Kentucky data with NOAA, shall we.

Summer (Jun-Aug) Temperature
Kentucky
Summer (Jun-Aug) 1901 - 2000 Average = 74.70 degF
Summer (Jun-Aug) 1895 - 2011 Trend = -0.05 degF / Decade

Second place Detroit Michigan will lose 17,877 people.

Summer (Jun-Aug) Temperature
Michigan
Summer (Jun-Aug) 1901 - 2000 Average = 66.34 degF
Summer (Jun-Aug) 1895 - 2011 Trend = -0.06 degF / Decade

Extrapolating the 117 year long trend of decreasing summer temperatures in Kentucky and Michigan out to 2099, the NRDC predicts future temperatures to rise by 4-11 degrees, thereby killing... precisely... 150,322 people.
